Surprise ... Matt Grevers proposes to Annie Chandler
THIS Olympic swimmer gave his girlfriend the perfect Valentine's gift — by proposing on the winner's podium.

Matt Grevers won the 100-metre backstroke on Saturday night at a Missouri swimming gala.
He waited for the silver and bronze medallists to leave the stand, and dropped to one knee before popping the question to fellow US national swimmer Annie Chandler, 24.

Matt, 26 — who won two gold medals in the 2008 Olympics — had help from his brother Andy, who is an assistant swimming and diving coach at the University of Missouri.

He slipped his brother the diamond engagement ring before Matt went to collect his medals.

The romantic union completely upstaged the action in the pool for cheering spectators and other swimmers alike.
Annie said she had no inkling that Matt would propose, even when organizers asked her to help present the medals during her boyfriend's event.
She said: "The only part that felt unnatural was when Matt asked me to get on the top podium with him.
"When he fell to his knee and I saw the shiny black box, I knew. That's when I went weak in the knees and kind of fell down myself."
